Who We Are

Our Why

Common Garments Ministry exists to make the love of Christ visible in everyday ways. We meet real needs with clothing, groceries, and prayer so our clients experience care for the body and hope for the soul. When God opens a door to serve, we want people to feel seen, valued, and welcomed. We believe practical service opens hearts to the gospel: “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food… faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:15–17). Our calling is to point to Jesus, who invites the weary to come and find rest (Matthew 11:28), and to trust Him to use simple acts of love to draw people to Himself.

We “clothe” in two ways. First, we provide quality clothing and household items so families can thrive. Second, we invite people to put on the new life Christ gives: “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility” (Colossians 3:12). The first meets a need today; the second changes a life forever. We do this together with local churches, volunteers, and supporters. Every donation sorted, every cart pushed, every prayer offered is part of one story: God caring for our community through His people. As the early church shared “as any had need” (Acts 2:44–45), we share what God provides and trust Him to multiply it. Our aim is simple: serve well, speak truth kindly, and keep Christ at the center. If you need help, you are welcome here. If you want to serve, there is a place for you. May everything we do reflect the humility and self-giving love of Jesus.

Meet the Team

Our team is a family of volunteers from many backgrounds and ages, united in Christ to serve for God’s glory. They greet our guests with kindness and respect, pray with them, and carry the quiet work that keeps CGMI moving: receiving deliveries, stocking food, sorting clothing, loading trucks, cleaning, and caring. Their aim is simple—reflect Jesus in word and deed. We thank God for every volunteer and for the churches and partners who serve alongside us.

While our team is always changing, those pictured are just a few of the many who serve—from sorting to the front desk, from prayer to the pantry. If you would like to join us for God’s glory, stop by and speak with our team. We’d love to meet you.

Meet the Directors

Richard and Casey have served as directors of Common Garments Ministry in Nebo, Kentucky, since September 2024. As sinners saved by grace through Christ Jesus, they believe the deepest need of every person is the hope of the gospel. Their first work is to build caring relationships where Christ’s love can be seen and heard. Because every guest bears God’s image, they welcome each person with dignity, prayer, and practical help that points to Jesus. Their desire is to keep this ministry aligned with God’s Word and for His glory.

God called Richard into gospel ministry during a 2012 mission trip to Zimbabwe and has led their family through seasons of service: Marine Corps service, workplace chaplaincy, pastoral ministry, and now leadership at Common Garments Ministry. They are grateful to be raising their family in Nebo and for the churches, volunteers, and partners who serve alongside them for the good of this community and the glory of God.
